Cast acrylic, thicknesses and design tips
For the cleanest result, specify cast acrylic — it flame-polishes itself at the cut to a glass-clear, glossy edge and engraves a bright frosty white. Extruded acrylic is cheaper and cuts cleanly too, but the edge is slightly less glossy and it engraves nearly clear. We cut acrylic up to about 1/4″ thick, in clear, black, white, and — by order — frosted, fluorescent, mirrored, and custom colors.
Send vector files (AI, DXF, or PDF) at 1:1 scale, and leave the protective masking on the sheet so the polished faces stay clean through the cut. Acrylic is also the material for edge-lit signs: artwork is reverse-engraved into the back of a clear panel so an LED base makes it glow.

How thick of acrylic can you cut?
Up to about 1/4″. Thicker work may be possible at slower speeds — send the details and we will confirm.
Cast or extruded acrylic — which should I use?
Cast for the cleanest edge and a frosty-white engrave. Extruded is fine for plain cutting at a lower cost. We will advise for your project.
Can I bring my own acrylic?
Yes — bring your own laser-safe acrylic and we do not mark it up. We also stock clear, black, and white, with more colors available by order.
What file format do you need?
Vector files — AI, DXF, or PDF — at 1:1 scale for cutting. Raster images (PNG, JPG) are fine only for engraved photos.
